Parks and Gardents in Delhi

Delhi is known for lush green rich gardens throughout the world. Its rich offering of beautiful gardens filled with acute greenery always impress even the keenest ones looking for green ambiance. Delhi is indeed flooded with such gardens and it is inevitable to ignore its beauty and charm. Apart from the beauty, Delhi Gardens attracts a large mass of crowd from the all over the city especially during weekends. So, if you are planning to meet the fun loving people hanging out with their families, you better opt for any of the Delhi gardens.

The history of Delhi gardens is unique than the city itself. As the emperors resided here for ages, Delhi gardens owe their origin to their lush green wishes. 

And maintaining that legacy became easy with the Indian tourism department, which firmly stands by the commitment to maintain them without even a single glitch.

Mughal Garden
Mughal Gardens is synonymous to the luxury that has been carved out from our mother nature. Though the Mughals came to India and declined during 18th century, yet their strolling paradise teaches the way a green pursuit must be kept. The Mughal Gardens is a place with perfection and offers you a green carpet under your feet and even your eyes can not escape the green color reminiscent of green cultural cultivation. 

Perfectly located at the rear of Rashtrapati Bhawan in the President's estate, the green euphoria is in constant touch with its care takers. One thing has changed though; earlier the hands were British, now it is India that takes care of the Gardens. If you would like to know what’s there in that garden, have a stroll and you will be pampered by some exotic varieties of roses  and other related varieties.



Talkatora Garden

Talkatora means something in the shape of a cup or a bowl. The design and topography of the garden is the reason why it is called "Talkatora Garden". The garden is located at Wellingdon Crescent.

Lodi Garden

Lodi Garden evokes romanticism at every turn. It is located at a stone's throw from India International Centre (IIC) and to the west of Humanyu’s Tomb. The Lodi Garden is known for its rich voluminous and lush green retreat from the daily hustle bustle. Morning attracts joggers and you can find lots of people doing morning exercise at regular basis. People come here from far to get greenest and cleanest air, which becomes elusive all day long.

The Garden is not confined to greenery; it has ponds, and thick forest type ambiance.

Kalindi Kunj
Situated in South Delhi, Kalindi Kunj is famous for architecture coupled with greenery. The basic intention, envisaged by its founders was to give it a natural look. And they have succeeded to a large extent.

The Kalindi Kunj Park is the perfect place to spend your evenings with family. However, if you visit this place in the afternoons, you will witness couples cajoling and caressing each other, cementing the possibilities of post marital commitment in most of the cases. Exceptions are always there.

Children's Park
It is located near India Gate round about and is famous among children. Small kids can be seen playing, swinging and sliding in the park.


Lodhi Gardens
The garden is famous for its greenery and a preferred picnic spot. It is built around the tombs of Lodhi and Sayyid rulers. It is a nice spot for having fresh air during mornings and evenings. The experience of a modern landscape blended with the remains of medieval monuments is something that can only be witnessed by visiting the garden.


Shalimar Garden
Located in the outskirts of Delhi, near Badli Sarai, the garden is famous for its historical connection. The garden was originally called as "Aizzabad-Bagh", which is believed to have been named by Shahjahan after his mistress. The garden was used by Auranzeb as his country-house.


Zoological Garden

The garden is designed by the famous Zoo specialist, Hergebbeck. Zoological garden is located in Central Delhi, near Purana Quila. It is a famous picnic spot of Delhi and children enjoy their time in the garden amidst the greenery of the park. It is closed on Fridays.


Jahapanah
It is located in Chirag Delhi. The garden is famous for birds with a well developed forest. Jahapanah is very popular among Bird lovers in the city. One can find birds of different species including migratory birds arriving from other countries.

Buddha Jayanti Park
Budha Jayanti Park is located west of Rajpath. This large park is known for inhabiting a wide variety of flowers and trees. It is this place, which witnessed a sage attaining its zenith of consciousness and the sage is not someone other than Gautum Budha.   

Therefore this place is full of spiritual vibrations. One can notice amidst a leisurely stroll the sense of Budhahood ingrained in every part of it.


Millennium Indraprastha Park

Millennium Park is located near the Sarai Kale Khan Bus terminal. Another landmark is the famous Humayun's tomb that can be seen in the backyard. The park is spread over an area of 20 acres with greenery all around bringing peace and serenity to people.


India Gate Lawns
Lawns around the famous India Gate are very popular among tourists and the people of Delhi. These lawns are favorite picnic spots and people find time to spend a calm evening strolling on these lawns. It is a great sight with India Gate standing tall and handsome at one end of Janpath. People enjoy ice creams, snacks and other eatables from vendors.


Yamuna Water Front

Yamuna Water Front can be seen south of Rajghat. The garden is spread over a distance of four kilometers with green lawns and floral beds.


Rose Garden
One of the famous Rose gardens is located at Shantipath in the Diplomatic Area and the other one is in Hauz Khas near Safdarjung's tomb.


Nehru Park

It is located near the Ashok Hotel in Chanakyapuri. The garden is spread over an area of 85 acres.
